ELOP Program FAQ's answers for parents

Expanded Learning Opportunities Program FAQs

Q. How do I sign up my child?

A. You can sign up your child through the ParentVUE portal on Synergy. It can be found under After-School New child. Select ELOP if your child will participate. Please note that there will be times when registration is closed to allow applicants to be processed. Registration for the start of the 2023-2024 school year will CLOSE on August 6, 2023 and reopen after current registrations are processed.

Q. When will I find out if my child is enrolled?

A. School offices will open August 2nd, and staff will begin emailing and calling families to confirm enrollment. Due to program staffing, there may be a waitlist created to ensure we have proper student supervision. School offices have limited staff until the week of August 7th. Thank you for your patience as staff may not be able to return calls immediately. Please check your email, and make sure your contact information is current in Synergy.

Q. What if I only want my child to attend on Wednesdays?

A. If you only want your child to attend on early-release Wednesdays, there will be a different sign up for that. If you have already registered on ParentVUE, please let your school’s office staff know that you only want Wednesday attendance when you are contacted about enrollment.

Q. Will snacks be provided?

A. Yes, a healthy snack and a drink will be provided every day. We strongly recommend your child bring water or a water bottle every day.

Q. Will my child be allowed to leave early?

A. Yes, however, to maintain grant funding, ELOP must have 85% attendance or better. If your child has regular activities, such as sport practices, they can be placed on an early release exception plan for the period of the sports season. Students without exception plans who fall below 85% attendance may be at risk of being dropped from the program. Please communicate with your child’s program facilitator when you have appointments or emergencies.

Q. What is the child-to-staff ratio?

A. 10:1 ratio for TK/K; 20:1 ratio for 1st-6th grade

Q. Will buses be provided?

A. No. Parents/Guardians are responsible for picking up their child.

Q. What will my child be doing in the afterschool enrichment program?

A. The program will include homework time, arts, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), social-emotional wellness, physical activities, and academic learning recovery.
