Trojans,
We have set the bar high for current and future generations. The successes we have enjoyed in recent years have been grounded firmly in some very basic principles. Simply enough, life as a student can be managed fairly easily by following these ideals. In fact, these practices transfer to just about any facet of life and will serve you well. All Trojans are expected to live and breathe by these guidelines. It isn’t something we just talk about, it is who we are.
All Trojans are Prepared Contributors! Time in school is valuable. At YVHS, our students make the most of that time by staying focused on what life looks like beyond school, and they take advantage of each opportunity they have to be prepared. Preparedness is about having choices. The more choices one has, the more prepared that individual is for the world.
All Trojans are Respectful Citizens! This means so many different things, but let’s see if we can clarify things a bit. There are two components to respectfulness. To be respectful means understanding where someone else may be coming from and being willing to consent to the possibility that their perspective may be right.
All Trojans are Independent Learners! Yucca Valley High School has an amazingly dedicated staff who provide world class experiences for Trojan students. The key ingredient to any student's success is their individual determination. Trojan students embrace their natural curiosity to learn and discover. YVHS encourages and fosters that independence.
All Trojans are Determined Achievers! At the end of the day, everyone likes to win. No matter what the task it feels good to do something and do it well. All Trojans approach each task with the mindset of putting forth their best effort. It is important to know that we do not have to be THE best, but we will work everyday to be OUR best.
All Trojans are Effective Communicators! Understanding language and how to use it as a tool is one of the most vital skills any person can acquire. Whether students are learning English or a language other than English, Yucca Valley High School students become master communicators who can absorb and convey information in a variety of ways.
To be a great school means we have great students who come from great homes and families in great neighborhoods. The only way each of those parts of our community can be great is if you rise to the challenge and achieve your own greatness.
Let’s have a great year Trojans!
Thank You,
Ms. Skinta
